Introduction In this lessons, students will combine three concepts of math we have been working on, addition, subtraction, and telling time, and will complete exercises that show them how these three concepts work together and how we use these concepts in our everyday lives. Learners This is a lesson designed for 2nd graders, but it can be modified for both younger and older graders. For younger grades, you can decrease the difficulty of the problems and focus on just addition, or just subtraction. For older grades, you can increase the difficulty of the problems by adding more numbers to their addition/subtraction problems and by making the time-telling problems for difficult. Common Core Standards CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.MD.C.7 Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.A.2 Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.
